Summary
Mack Energy is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Air Separation Unit (ASU) Operator Trainee to join our operations team at our Cox City, Oklahoma facility. This position offers an excellent opportunity to begin a long-term career in the industrial gas and cryogenic processing industry while receiving hands-on training from experienced operators and management. The successful candidate will train to safely operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain cryogenic air separation equipment and associated systems used in the production of nitrogen and other industrial gases.Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate Degree, Technical School Certificate, Military Technical Training, or equivalent industrial experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn industrial process operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and operating procedures.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to make sound decisions while following established procedures.
- Experience working in a continuous process plant environment.
- Experience with electrical, instrumentation, or control systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Experience in industrial gas production, cryogenic processing, natural gas processing, or related industries is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, and rotating equipment.
- Familiarity with PLC and SCADA control systems is a plus.
Tasks
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Train to operate, monitor, and optimize Air Separation Unit (ASU) operations and related plant equipment.
- Learn to monitor plant performance through control systems, analyzers, instrumentation, and field inspections.
- Perform routine plant rounds and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and process efficiency.
- Assist in troubleshooting process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.
- Learn safe startup, shutdown, and operational transition procedures.
- Maintain product quality specifications and assist with quality control procedures.
- Record and maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Work with maintenance personnel to support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Monitor and maintain utility systems, cooling water systems, compressors, pumps, turbines, and auxiliary equipment.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment manuals, and operating procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain clean and organized.
- Serve as a member of the Quality Control Unit (QCU) as required.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and permit requirements.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.
